Well,
what a glorious sunny day in London and an exciting day of
racing the Exe-Calibre crew had at Albert Dock. A little disappointing
in the 200m with 12 league points - some work to do there
in our final two training sessions before the Nationals.
However,
the crew really pulled together for the 500's in the afternoon,
overcoming a difficult semi-final (due to having to get into
an extremely rubbish pool boat) to win their final race by
a whopping 3 seconds. A well earned, hard fought 15 points.
Well done to all and thanks to the crew for their commitment
and 'grunt'!
Congratulations
also to David F who is no longer a race virgin! Exe-Calibre
finishes the 2009 BDA League in 5th place in both the 200m
and the 500m competition, smashing their previous best-ever
position, which was 8th. Not only that but we have finished
a mere point or two behind Notts in 4th. So, a HUGE thank
you to all YOU paddlers who have got Exe-Calibre to seven
BDA events this year - this was a first and has meant that
we have started to reach our potential as a racing club.
2010 will be the year that Exe-Calibre aims for the top of
the standard league. Exe-Calibre now has a depth of old and
new talent, paddling potential, commitment and competitive
spirit that, when honed to a deadly combination by our exciting
winter training (which will start after the Nationals), will
result in a crew that will leave the Secklows, Notts Anacondas
and Pershore Phoenixes reeling in our wake!! However, I get
ahead of myself! First we've got to soundly kick some arse
next weekend!
LET'S DO IT!
