Social Events 2008

14th December

Christmas paddle is also the last paddling session of the year. come down to the Quay at 11pm with a silly hat and your best singing voice for a paddle down the canal. Mince pies and a possible trip to the pub will follow!

6th December

The Christmas Party was due to be held today at the Canoe Club, however because of important members of of the club and several other people can not attend this event, it has been postponed until Wednesday 4th or Friday 20th February. More details to follow...

In the meantime a less organised gathering for those who can make it (and want to) will be at the clubhouse on that date. We can bring some food, games, music and have a low-key fun time. Ed will run the bar, and hopes that everyone else will assist with clearing up afterwards! If you are interested send Ed an email.

20th October

Lauren has booked for us to go to Broadways Restaurant (41 The Strand, Exmouth, EX8 1AH). They do not usually open on a Sunday but because we would be a large booking they have agreed to open. They have asked that we give pre-orders and Lauren is awaiting a menu in the mail for everyone to look at and decide what they would like, the restaurant has also asked for £5 a head for confirmation and this will be taken off the bill. Finally they only seat 25 people so Lauren would appreciate it if everyone could get back to her asap whether or not they and a plus 1 would like to come.

13th July

Social paddle on Tiverton canal - The boat is being taken off the water on the afternoon of Saturday 12th July, so if you are available to do this around 4pm, your muscles would be much appreciated. Camping at Minnows Caravan Park, for those that want to camp on the evening of the 12th.

Because this event is well subscribed, a few people are planning to bring
bicycles, and the O1s may get an outing as well. We can all swap places so
everybody gets a share of paddling, walking, cycling etc. Partners/family & friends all welcome. Contact Ed if you'd like to take part.

27th April

Pre season social to bring everyone in the club together to celebrate the coming of the coming seasons racing, and all the silverware and points that we will gain through out the year! A BBQ after training for lunch and a few drinks in the club house. For £5 sausages, hamburgers, bacon (for those who would like to have their usual bacon butty), bread and condiments will be available.
While drinks as usual will be available behind the bar, it was suggested that be bring our own wine/beer and have this available at a slightly inflated cost, to help raise a few extra quid for ExeCalibre!! If anyone would like to volunteer to make a green salad or desert then let Lauren know.

So that Lauren can organise the food, it would be great if you would be able to let her know how many people, including family and friends, would like to attend the BBQ, by the 24th.

16th February

It's Chrissie's birthday coming up beginning of Feb - most of you might already know. Anyway, she is taking the plunge and organising a big bash with musac!

It'll be at Finlake Holiday park, Chudleigh - a reasonable stretch for booking a mini bus taxi from Exeter - or for those who'd like accommodation she has arranged a discount for a group booking. Accommodation is in the style of Woodland Scandinavian lodges, for a little bit extra they come with a sauna and a little more there are 1 maybe 2 units with a hot tub. with the discount and you sharing lodges they're coming out at £17.50 a head for one night - with slight variations. Place looks fab, 4 miles of woodland walks, swimming pool, sauna's .......

Let Chrissie know if you can make it.
