Nationals - 4-5 October 2008
After our excellent results in the Plate Finals last year we knew that we could only go up from there, and we did ... making it get into the Cup Finals. Our first race was battled against premier league teams in the 200m races, we were surprised to be told by Steven that we had actually 'done too well' and were now in the Cup Competition instead of the Plate Competition! Already we had surpassed our best at the Nationals and we could not wait to see what would happen next! Unfortunately the 'Curse of the Broken Paddle' returned, as Steve's paddle managed to implode in the middle of one of our Cup races. However, our results in the Cup finals still put us in 11th place out of 25 teams nationally, Exe-Calibre's highest achievements to date!
Bristol - 1 June 2008
After the rain and damp of last year's event, it seems everyone came prepared for the worst, we even had two gazebos, lucky for us they were not needed to keep out the rain even though at times the skies looked ominous.
Exeter - 4 May 2008
The beginning of another National League campaign for ExeCalibre was filled with a sense of expectation and excitement that has not been seen in any of the previous seasons. This was to be the time when ExeCalibre stepped out from the shadow’s of mid-table contentedness and finally took their rightful place at the top end of the Standard League… Or at least that was the plan anyway.
