Exe-Calibre’s first race event
of the season started well with a full crew turnout
comprising both experienced and newer paddlers. Full
of positive energy we lined up in the third heat of
the Open 200m alongside Worcester Dragons, Batchworth
and Amathus Bees. The winter and spring of intense
training really paid off as we recorded our 2nd to
best ever time for 200m in 52.00 secs, placing us
as 5th fastest runners up, with a place in the 3rd

For this event the weather was very
kind to Exe-Calibre and the rest of the crews who
gathered in Exeter, the sun shone all day, allowing
a full race programme. Instead of huddling under the
gazebo getting drenched, we sheltered from the sun
under it between races...... more

For our 3rd event of the season
the weather was again reasonably kind to us so the
brand new gazebo served mostly to protect us from
the sun. We had a good turn out giving Stephen a little
choice as to crew and positions and we lined up full
of enthusiasm against WAM, Three River Serpents and
Henley Dragons – all Premier crews – for
our first 200m heat..... more

The course at Worcester was altered
slightly this year due to the damage done to the race
course during the recent floods. The devastation was
apparent as we got out of our cars but the event was
able to continue as normal apart from the large amount
of dust we all ate in the windy conditions!.....

| Nottingham National
Finals- 6-7th October 2007

It was Nottingham and it was the finals
and most of us expected rain and wind blasting sideways
across the course, but not this year. Perfect conditions
met us and our shiny waxed bottom. The bottom of our
lovely, borrowed, (and very narrow at the back) boat
that is.
Starting our campaign early in the first race in the
Open 200m we placed ourselves exactly where we wanted
to be. This despite Angela’s attempt at sabotage
on the first stroke, maybe it’s time we bought
some new equipment… more
